Paint edge smoothing?

Clear paint damaged while taking wheel off. Masking tape, rattle can, wait an hour, remove tape. Advice on how to remove the edge around the painted area.

(The picture also show glue residue from the tape)

You could try some acetone on a rag.

It's easier to blend a repair if you don't use tape.

Around one patch, I wanted to remove some tape glue residue with label remover first. The glue was easy, but some label remover ended on the clear paint. It became milky and a little sticky. Soon after it reacted as expected to 1500 sand paper. I'm going to spend another hour polishing. The patches are already almost invisible. You can feel the edges, but very little. I'll wait to see if the prep has been good enough...
