 I proposed at our sports car clubs annual awards dinner.
I had the club prez announce that I was going to give a special award, and got down on one knee, holding out the ring, and asked her to marry me in front of about 150 sports car nuts and autocross drivers.




She said yes.

I made a huge tail on a parachute kite with the big question on it... took me 20 minutes of running due to the lack of wind to get it in the air.  she burst out crying and said yes.  so romantic.   




we divorced 6 years later.

my wife and I planned our first kid before we planned our marriage.  we were both so excited about having a wee one that we forgot about the marriage bit.  one night my wife said, "... hmm.... having a kid- ya think we should get married?" 
...
"sure, we could do that."

to this day I tell our kids that their mother was very progressive and popped the question on me instead of the other way around.
