Paid $108 for a pint of Ducati Green paint.  :o

I have finally broke-in my bike/engine...just finished first service at 604 miles, in time for the military track day this Wed & Thurs.  Sadly, it's calling for 60% rain for both scheduled days!  Booooo

I seem to remember that's about normal for any good polyurethane enamel.  It's one of the reasons that doing a good paint job on a car, esp. the Euro's, costs so damn much. That's what the guy that does my paint work tells me.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

I was thinking a little under $500/gallon was the normal range.  Not sure what the pint markup is but that puts it at $864/gallon.  It's not metallic but rather has pearls in it so that adds a chunk.

Spent a bunch of time finding the original paint code for it but the code was worthless.  When you put the code in the computer all that comes up is "custom".

Anyhow it's all good, just hoping for a decent match.

Enjoying a great weekend...my baby sister (Heba) and brother-in-law (Brent) are visiting from VA.  It is great to have them home.  We went paddle boarding this morning and had a great time...sadly it was my first time even though I've lived here for 18 months!  If anyone is in Waikiki tonight and would like to join us, we'll be at Duke's at 5PM.

Sorry Mac, I haven't been on the computer much this week.  Track day was awesome...I spent a session working one of the flag/coach corners to watch the mistakes riders made (myself included) and was an eye opener.  My rear tire was slipping at first, so I softened the rear dampening and that seems to have fixed it.  I've put 800 miles on the S1000RR in the last 3x weeks...sadly, my 1198 felt completely foreign to me when I rode it yesterday!  I missed the Duc's bottom end torque and sound...but the BMW's handling is so much sweeter to flick around.

Survived the warrior dash today.  It was tough and fun.  I got all muddy from crawling in the wet mud pit.  Will do it again.

No worries...... The different engines seem to appeal to different folks. It's not a thing where one is better than the other. It happens for the guys that do all the test riding for the magazines too.  In our own crowd, so to speak, David S. rode his S1000rr for a year & a half and ended up preferring the 1198 so much that he wouldn't go back to the the BMW.  Brandon had a S4R and the 848 but ended up with the BMW. Most of the motorcycle press prefer the inline 4's.  In my garage at home it's all twins from a 620 Monster to the R1100S to the Hypermotard to an old Harley to the 848.  It's all good

Did Tantalus in the ES30...not a good day for motorbikes up there, lots of wet & leaf strewn sections...

Had a good run with MD today and visited the Tantalus too.  Ran with my new OGK helmet.  Needs some break-in time, but it was pleasantly comfortable with no side pinching.   [thumbsup]

I ordered mine from a shop in hong kong, Moto mart co. http://www.motomartco.com/e/default_home.asp or email at motomartco@gmail.com.  Really good response rate and reasonable shipping fee.  I paid $32 for shipping and it got here in 5 days.  They usually have more items than what's on the website, just have to ask.

Or there are some ff5's on eBay for $289.

Did the obligatory around the island trip with the in-laws this morning...highlight of the trip was the run through Norfolk... ;D
