In the sunlight it is more of a candy red. He also had the frame painted to match.

And yet I wonder...the key would be the deep-sump engine cases.  And Mac you're right the actual displacement was 999, but only if it's an R.

Ugly can be fixed, but it's still ugly.

I saw a red late model monster twice yesterday; once near Costco getting on H2 south, and then again westbound on Nimitz underneath H1.  I wonder if he went to South Seas or something. Rider had a bright red motocross helmet with mirrored goggles.

Saw the same rider in Waikiki yesterday, it was a red 696 with the rider wearing a red icon motocross style helmet.
