White anchovies. Yum. Marinated, sour, salty (not as salty as the canned/jar ones).

But I like the other anchovies on pizza, or in seafood pastas as part of the sauce.
Or sauteed with something like broccoli rabe and garlic.

Yeah, white anchovies on pizza or salad just don't cut it. They are best eaten solo.

So, you agree with my wife.  Ellen will consume food with anchovies in it as long as she cannot recognize them.  She used to put up with them untill I served her a bagel with anchovy butter on it.
[laugh]

you got the idea howie  [thumbsup]
i'm ok with them in caesar dressing... but not on the salad itself.

if i can tell it's an anchovy, i want no part of it.

i'm not a fan of most fish, especially the fishy one's...  :-X
i do like shellfish, of any variety  ;D

fishy fish kinda gets to me, too... but once you cook anchovies down... they're nutty and all manner of good

Love the dried anchovies too!  I eat them by the handful instead of potato chips!  My wife got pissed at me because I would break off the heads and feed them to my then 10 month old twins.  God I love to torture my wife.....  :-)

Not sure where you find the Sicilian variety (though I bet it'd be worth the effort to track down a real Sicilian grocer...), but a similar vinegar-cured anchovy in Spain is called Boquerones and can be had here:

You can make your own if you have access to fresh little herring (sprat or whitebait):

I worked at a pizzeria in NY and I wouldn't touch the nasty things even if a customer wanted them.  I also found that you could grab a couple of slugs from the alley and no one could tell the difference.
