I need a replacement tach for my 2000 Monster M900S... Does anyone know about replacement guages as a whole or just how I can replace the tach..? I can swap out both if there is something interesting to replace them with. I'd be happy to just swap out the tach but for 500 bucks or something like that from Ducati it seems insane. So, a new gauge cluster (digital or analogue)... or just a new tach to fit in the original cluster... any and all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

No immobilisers in 2000 and 2001, just on the S4 in 2001.
But you are correct, 2000 M900s were the 1st injected Monsters.
Makes me wonder though, were M900s offered in 2002? and did they have immobilisers/ST based frames?

Does anyone know if this is an easy install... the Motogadgets one is nice... I am presuming that if I go digital then all the cabeling for the old speedo and other stuff needs to be cleaned up and made to disappear? I'll take a closer look at them as well. and the Analogue one just means the face plates would be different if this one was white and the Ducati speedo i have would be grey... Hmmm the cosmetics of it all... and my M900 has the injection but no immobilizers.

I believe on your bike it would be relatively easy. On my 03 it was a nightmare. I emailed you some pics.

hey thanks for the pics... the bike looks great... I think doing the single guage with the clip ons is nice... have to see if that is workable... no one seems to make anything that just slips into the stock housing though... oh well... maybe time for some new mods in that case...

What's wrong with your tach that you need to replace it? There's also another company "Koso" that makes nice gauges. I just put a set on an SV and they're very nice. http://www.kosonorthamerica.com/

Hey, The two screws that hold the plate in place came out and the unit is sealed so I can't get em back in... and the plate vibrates all over and the needle is not stable anymore... so I need to replace the tach...
The Koso guages and the ones from motogadget are both really nice... clean units... very cool. I'll have to see what I can fit where and how the set up and connections would run..
These ideas are helpful... Thanks.... Still would love to find a stock unit if anyone knows where I can find one.....

If you are planning on replacing the tach anyway you could try cutting it open repairing it and gluing it back together.

Hey, I thought about cutting it open and fixing it and then gluing it back together... I might try it just for fun to see if I can do it... the tach is a little beat up around the edges from trying to open it before I realized it was sealed... I'm going to perhaps replace it with something from Motogadgets or Koso... they both look pretty good... I like the cleaner look with the motogadget stuff... I'll have to see if I can work it out. I don't know... might lead to redoing the way the front end looks... might need some new ideas there as well....
