This has been on the news a lot lately:

The eaglets are just hatching.
I live about an hour from it, so it is pretty interesting to me. National Geographic is doing parallel filming in HD for a special. The feed quality is pretty good.

Another one, in Maine. Apparently they are sitting on eggs now.
A buddy showed me the Decorah feed Saturday while we were pounding beer in the midst of making a couple batches of homebrew.
We had it on pretty much all night. Cool stuff. [thumbsup]
The male just popped in for a visit. [thumbsup]
It is kind of cool when you see rabbit parts, black bird feathers, etc in the nest. They eat well.

I have to say this is the first time in my life I have seen an Eagle sleeping. This footage is awesome. [thumbsup]
awesome [thumbsup]
That is so cool. wonder how much of my day looking at that is going to take up?

Fortunately I can't see it at work due to filters, otherwise I would be consumed all day...

I clicked in just in time for a feeding!
[thumbsup]
looks like fish for dinner tonight ;D

I recall a documentary on pbs I saw last year that said even 2 eaglets is considered a high yield. I wonder how long before the parents give up and do something with it.

First hatch 4/2/11.
24-hour collage of first egg pip and hatch
Second hatch 4/3/11.
First glimpse of second hatchling
Third hatch expected within a couple of days.

I have been watching a lot of the feed and it seems one of the eaglets is eating more and is more active than the other as well.

the same documentary said that is normal as well. There is an alpha in the nest and sometimes it will try and kill the other one by pecking at it and starving it. I imagine if the younger one does survive, he/she is a tough bird ;D

The adult stood up and there it was. The other two were huddled together.
It was moving but still mostly in the well broken egg shell.
I think it is pretty amazing to hear the mourning doves, owls, geese, and other birds in the background. They must have a great microphone.
mitt
Of course I posted about the microphone, and now it sounds like crap...

Yeah, for some reason when it gets dark it has that loud buzzzzz.

must be some interferance with the IR camera or something ??? You are right though, it started the buzz right when it went to black and white.

I didn't realize but there is a youtube channel with highlights.
This one is kind of funny, because the male accidentally moved one of the eaglets out of the center of the nest. The female comes back and looks at him just like my wife does when I supervise the kids the wrong way.

You need to stop and start that video (play pause play pause) in the beginning. The eaglet actually grabs the side
of the old mans head while he is cleaning house and goes for a ride. :D
Right before the end of that clip she looks up at the cam as if to say "You see what I have to put up with?" Classic.

I am sure it was still dad's fault when mom saw the situation!
[laugh]
It is amazing between the talons and the beaks that the eaglets don't get killed just from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Looking at more vids, that eaglet must be a daredevil, cause he/she did it again 2 days later, and started attacking one of the corpses in the nest

I bet the adults get tired of the bites to the head feathers.

that is a cool video. Amazing how aggressive the little ones are.
The kids are getting feisty. [laugh]
the kids are getting big
MITT: I owe you bigtime for turning me onto this. The wife and I are addicted to it.
OF course today kinda sux for them. that weather is nasty
Yea, hopefully the little ones are OK with the bad weather. It is nasty here lately - wind, rain, snow, sleet.
Everybody is getting a bit of space.
wow they sure got big quick
I just had it up on my screen and the one was stumbling around.
It stuck it's ass in the air and a white projectile shot out like a bullet. [laugh]
A month old, give or take. ;)
Just watched the live feed for the first time in a couple of weeks. It looks like the two darker ones (obviously the older of the three) are doing well and were being fed by mom/pop. The adult's back was to the camera but it seemed obvious that was what was going on. The younger gray kiddo was closer to the camera and just didn't seem to look well. Maybe it was just asleep but it was all splayed out in a weird manner and I would think it would pick up on the feeding of the the two older siblings. You hear about adult birds favoring the oldest and most active/assertive chicks and blowing off the youngest and weakest. That whole survival of the fittest thing. I wonder if that is what is taking place here? Any more active live feed viewers have any feedback on this? Am I reading too much into what I just viewed.
I have a very good childhood friend who is a tenured professor at UCLA that has an ornithology lab there. I need to email him and turn him onto this site. A hundred bucks says he knows all about it already! [thumbsup] He might be able to tell me what's going on just by watching the feed for a while. Hope the youngest one makes it OK. The world needs more bald eagles!! ;D
That's right. If we run out of them...
no more bald eagle burgers
;D

[laugh]
OK, you guys are sick in a very funny way! [laugh]
Hadn't checked in a while...
looks like it's a full time job feeding those three.
They've gotten big.
they are SO big now! the researchers think they'll be leaving the nest within the next week or so
The nest cam dropped off my radar too. Great to see them so big and healthy looking. That's a lot of hard work for Mom and Dad to keep those critters fed! ;D Cool stuff. [thumbsup]
I've checked on them daily since they hatched.
Kinda gonna miss checking in on the (not so) little bastards.
yeah me too speedbag. i check daily at work & then once or twice a week i check out the nightcam.. it's going to be a little sad to see them go. i just cant believe how big they are, from those little tiny fluff balls to almost full grown. it's crazy!
Perched on branches right now. (2241est)
One of them was spreading its' wings and flapping this morning...won't be long.
it's so cool watching them grow up like this!
they turned the cameras around... hmmm... any day now is right :)
One of them flew out and back today.
