What, exactly, are you referring to when you say "paint the engine?" Cases? Block? Heads? Barrels?

And on to a different topic...How involved/hard would it be to paint the engine...is it DIY or take to someone else?
if you feel good about taking it apart and getting it all back together, sure, DIY! I, OTOH, am lazy. and would leave it in the hands of a professional |

My "plan" is to get the engine painted (block...whatever else is not flat black) and while the engine is out probably get the frame/wheels powdercoated and see about getting the exhaust done (ceramic...)...now from what I gather from the responses this might not be something I want to tackle myself...so than the question is who does that around here and any ideas on prices?

I imagine you would be looking at spending a pretty good amount. You have to account for the time required to strip the bike down, store all the parts (this would take up a good amount of space) while the paint work is being done and cured, then the time to put the bike back together again. I might be way off with this, but I guess you'd be looking at spending at least two grand, including labor, paint and storage fees?

Finally installed all the billet pieces I ordered... Alternator Cover  Oil Fill Plug  Brake/Clutch Covers  Frame Plugs  Tail Plugs  ...They actually all are the same color...I guess I will keep the new wheels gold...and speaking of the wheels I think they were mailed by messenger donkey because the guy mailed them out last Saturday but they are still in Texas (according to USPS tracker...) |

I know there's at least one local powdercoater... no idea on how much to do your whole engine, my cyl barrels were like 100 each. wheels are probably... what's the slow one? parcel post? because it's cheap. I hear they put it on a canoe out of cali to get here lol almost thinking you could have been better off just buying a newer/bigger bike.

Yeah with the money I've dumped in parts/labor I could have traded in the bike and gotten a newer/bigger bike but where's the fun in that... |

My point exactly. Spend all the cash personalizing to only realize that you still want more of a particular thing the bike can't give you. In my case it's more of a comfortable back, and not being able to foresee getting blown up while deployed. |
