As anal as Ducati is with keeping new bikes top secret until the Milan motorcyle show, why would they park a new model on the street?

I will NOT.

I find it to be an abomination to the Monster name.

Consider;

1. The original Monster is such a Timeless, Classy, Unique and Beautiful machine, While this bike looks like a cheap, mass produced in china wanna be knock off.

2. Ducati will most likely produce a Tuono-esque 1198 (yes, 1200cc) naked SBK with Upright bars very soon.

I see the Monster morphing from a naked superbike into a boutique bike.   A Tuono-esque naked SBK would be the true next-gen Monster...  They're just getting the names mixed up in Italy.

Randall.  With his own Duc business.  Wow.  Just wow.

yeah, about time I grew up a little and got legitimate at the same time.

that bike looks good, now only if termi would make normal diameter slip ons to fit on the bike it would look perfect,

i still doing like the megaphone sorta look that some people may like, but for me that is the only thing that has to change, put a single can underneath the seat and be done with it and them sell some monster city bags to go on the bike that won't interfere with the exhaust and you have the most awesome all around bike you can have.. perfect.  now only if they would make that bike.

bummer... they don't

its a clean looking updated bike, sure its not like the current monsters but its the evoluation of the design so i see where they are going wiht it.  hey if you don't like it don't worry there will be plenty of used monsters on the market for years to come.

ducati has a history of "slip up" sightings, which always result in huge drama (remember the spy shots of the 1098...)
i think they do it on purpose.

that being said, i think those pics are fake, especially this one, which looks like someone has photo chopped a 996 engine onto a 696

I think it's common knowledge that _that_ one is a fake. I don't think these new ones are fake, but I can't help but wonder why the front fork diameters are so small. (or is it just me?)

i was a bit cool to the 696 (i am still in 2004 with my 800ie) but i think it was time to take this step for ducati. i think we will see a tuono style bike soon, the monster had to go somewhere though... as i see more of these on the street (we have a bunch around here) i start to like them more and more.

the bigger motor makes it more appealing as well, maybe as a replacement for my 800 when it goes to my GF.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room.

There is nothing noble in being superior to some other man.  The true nobility is in being superior to your previous self. And in bacon.

you guys wouldnt think that some rich duded just wants to make every hold their breath right? i mean money goes a long way into making a custum m1100 from a 696. maybe its a Hyper swing arm, hyper engine thrown in there.

Popeye the Sailor

I wish I lived near the Duc factory.

I would make custom fabbed conglomerations of duc and let them be "spotted" just to spaz people out.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

i guess i will remain skeptical until i see some quality pics. i would like to see a good view of the swing arm, and see where the oil cooler is mounted as well.

When it comes to spy pics I trust bad quality pics more than I do good ones.

Thought about it but dismissed it when I saw the stock exhaust and tail unchopped.

Murdered Monster

Here's what one of the articles said, "2009 model year bikes are dropping like crazy this week. The latest is the 2009 Ducati Monster 1100, basically a Ducati Monster 696 with the 1100CC DS engine from a Ducati Multistrada. Compared to the 696, the air-cooled 1100 offers 15 more horsepower (95bhp) and 26 more lb/ft of torque (76lb/ft) as well as Y-spoke wheels and a single sided swingarm from the Ducati Hypermotard. Radial front brake and clutch reservoirs, as used on several other models, are also present. Expect the Monster 1100 to be officially unveiled at the 2008 EICMA show in November. We guess this checks one off the list of the 10 new Ducatis by 2010".
