Star Trek is horrible

More news was released today:

- The action begins at a time pre-Kirk's birth with an attack on the starship USS Kelvin by the vicious Romulan captain Nero (Eric Bana).

- Most of the film follows the blooming friendship of Kirk and Spock, how the crew came together.

- Trek canon stuff shown or mentioned include the doomed Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), Sulu's swordsmanship, and classic lines like "I have been, and always shall be, your friend."

- The opening sequence is "an emotionally wrenching passage that culminates with a mythic climax sure to leave zealots howling 'heresy."

- Sequences that will be shown include an awe-inspiring introduction of the Enterprise, a daring ice planet escape, and action up in the skies of Vulcan"

- The new-look hand phasers are "sleek silver gizmos with spring-triggered barrels that revolve and glow in the transition from 'stun' to 'kill'"

- Chris Pine beat out two other candidates who tested for Kirk in scenes with Zachary Quinto. His uniform is black in the photos because it's the standard space cadet uniform.

- Leonard Nimoy has scenes with the young Spock and possibly the young Kirk as well.

- The new bridge has handrails for the crew to grip onto during battles.

All right, now I'm bummed out.

All I really wanna see is Kirk get it on with that green alien belly-dancer chick . . .

i have that captain kirk picture too at work, its just hilarious.

i do have to say that it looks like they casted the role of spock pretty much dead on.  they should just say he is leonard nemoy's son instead.

the big question marks are kirk, mckoy (for some reason i'm not seeing that guy as the character) i think the sulu guy even though he is harold from harold and kumar, it should workout fine for that character.  the scotty guy, i'm not sure about him, only because he has been in so many sorta stupid roles, if he can get past that then he might be good, bc he does have a similar look to the old scotty back in the 60s.

I have to totally agree about Spock. However, forgetting that the guy playing Sulu was in Harold and Kumar is like forgetting that Mark Walberg was Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - it'll take time to get past - but it'll never be forgotten.
