Saw Star Trek this morning - Amazing.

So many little things that made this move just amazing.

...wow....Star Trek is BACK!!!

Monster Dave

Utterly amazing film. WOW!!! I am so very impresed. It's just sad that Gene Roddenberry, Deforest Kelly, and James Dohan didn't get to see thier legacy reborn in the light and respect that it deserved.

A+

That Nice Guy Beck!

why do you care what I think about trekkies lol
I don't get it.. I made a comment in passing about trekies and people are calling al sharpton over it.

Al Sharpton is coming? That's great, I love to hear his rants! Maybe we can get Michael Savage & Al Sharpton together here on the board & let the mud fly!  ;D

Do you think Al has seen the movie?

I watched it today. I was entertained but still don't feel it was worth my $11. I'm not liking how "busy" a lot of movies are recently. Sometimes it's so much detail put into something that it's overly complicated or sometimes it's camera angles that keep changing. Sometimes it just feels so busy that I don't feel like paying attention anymore or I can't even if I want to because there's too much going on. Maybe it's just me.
It's to avoid having to come up with an original idea or concept. Much easier to find something that was already done by "re-imagining" it and adding lots of ludicrous CGI.
I was looking at the ten most watched trailers on some site today. Nine of the ten were sequels, prequels, remakes, or some other such crap.
Plots are archaic apparently.  :'(

All about the mighty dollar.  With a sequal/prequal/remake you have a guaranteed audience and with something new you don't.  And 9 of 10 of the most watched trailers proves it.

i was all bummed that i didn't get to catch star trek on friday (because of a dive trip)... coincidentally, the roddenberry dive team was also diving at casino point and hosting a special presentation of the movie at the local theater... sulu, uhura, and gene roddenberry's son were sitting right in front of me.

i actually liked the story. in fact, i really like that alternate timeline started when nero (and spock) travelled back to the point of kirk's birth frees them from the confines of the "known star trek storylines."

Usually I like scifi, but I really didn't enjoy this movie. Too much comic relief. I couldn't take it seriously for more than 5 minutes at a time.

comic relief has always been a part of the trek movies.

if the visuals bother you, sit further back. the quick cuts are easier to deal with.

i'm somewhat pleased with how the writers gave themselves a lot of room to work within a star trek "parallel" universe and not step on the toes of evertthing else that's even been filmed or written about the characters.
