Random question: With the carbon frame (and I suppose the same goes for a Ti frame, or whatever) do you have to re-register the bike, or is the VIN somehow transferred?

Here's the question:  What's the most collectable, Foggy or TriColor?

I mean, what will be the most impressive in 15~20 years...Which deserve to be in a museum over the other?

They are both great bikes but which is the greatest?

Hello, Bruce,  there are many experts on this board, but I'll share my perspective. 

I believe 500 Tricolore models were made in 2008.  Only 300 Foggy's were made.  I've heard only 75 Foggy's came to the United States.   The Tricolore has 1098 cc, which will be impressive on the performance side.  I've found the Foggy engine (916) to have plenty of grunt and easily enough power to loft the front wheel if that's what you like.

I did look at both bikes prior to buying (searching for 2+ years) a Fogarty S4.  The Foggy has the legendary 916cc engine, which holds a special spot in the ducati history books.   I'm sure there are many tricolore owners who are just as pleased---so will look for other responses here.

Comes down to personal taste and stylistic preferences. Both are great bikes!!

One other quick thought:  the Foggy came with a custom leather jacket, front and rear race stands (with Foggy logo), and a ducati cover as well.  Not sure about the Tricolore, but a nice round-out to the collection

There were only 300 Foggy's for the world, 916 motor.

The Foggy came with: full termi exhaust, front/rear stands, all the cf body work, Ti number plate...... but no jacket.


The Tricolore had way more than 500 made, the numbered bikes were only for the U.S.. Also, it has the 999 motor not the 1098 motor.

As rare as Foggy's are, it's not really reflected in their monetary value though.  They pop up for sale from time to time but the sale prices aren't what you might expect.

Hi everybody--long time no activity here!  I am back on the Foggy and enjoying the warm weather! 

Question:  I have a stock swingarm---how much is the black single-sided swingarm I've seen in earlier posts and do you recommend it?  I am 6'1" and weigh 175.  Bike is mostly stock, aside from 996 cams and of course Termi pipes.

998 motor, which was used in some of the 999's.
