i have to admit that the more you hear ben spies give interviews the more you just have to like the guy.  he gives it to you straight and basically just says what is happening, doesn't seem to have a major ego in the interviews.

also matt mladin in interviews seems to be a pretty good guy, gives good interviews and really says it straight.

I have to admit watching the Spies interviews is allowing him to grow on me.

He even chuckled in this last one. Grin

He writes in he same manner/voice as he talks which to me makes it much more personal and real and less like someone was acting as his scribe which to me makes it better reading to a degree....

I do find myself re-reading about 10-15% of what TheBen writes just to try to figure out where he meant to go after hitting that period key on the previous sentence.  But despite that I do like the lack of an editorial filter between him and the big wide world.

My favorite writing quirk: when narrating a race after the fact, he switches without any particular rhyme or reason between "I" and "we" when, as far as I can tell, he's the only one out there behind the bars of his bike.

I've always assumed that he dictates it rather than writes it.  I could be wrong.  <shrug>

Either way, that good/well thing he does tweaks my OCD for some reason.  Everytime he does it (and he does it ALL the time), I can't stop from twitching.  I'm not really faulting the guy.  I just wish he'd stop hitting the "watch Spidey spasm" button everytime he gives an interview or writes a column.
