Looks like the wifes company is paying for our trip to come apartment hunting next weekend! Any ideas for fun things to do during our short off times, good places to eat? Is Phantom Canyon brewing a nice place? Good beer?

Well, I think that if you want to take in some of the magnificent scenerey, you should take a drive through the Garden of the Gods.  Then head up Ute Pass to Woodland Park so you can scout the canyon you will soon be carving on a regular basis.  From there, you can either take a left to Cripple Creek, or a right to Deckers and Pine Junction.  More of our favorite routes for riding.  Down to Canon City on Hwy 115 (stop and say hi to KRJ) and then out Hwy 50 to Salida.   Of course, if you are going to live here, you might as well save some of these for the bike.  You will like Phantom Canyon.  I've never heard any complaints.  Closer to home there is Cheyenne Canyon.  You should throw in a quick hike up Pikes Peak, too, if you have time.   ;D

I think bonfy is a little excited. LOL. Food wise there is the Melting Pot (fondue) restaurant downtown, or if you like German Edelweiss(Bristol Brewing company is literally next door  [drink]) There are several great Mexican food places, and of course all the normal mainstream food eateries.

Several breweries, Bristol Brewing, Phantom Canyon, Rock Bottom are around town.

DucatiTorrey

great thanks for the replies guys! good to see more than one brewery in town too! Not sure if you guys are familiar with Bells? We live in the land of Bells, hardcore.

I myself am not familiar with Bells. There are actually more breweries in town. If you do a google for colorado breweries you will find there are probably about 30 in the Colorado Springs/Denver area.  I'm sure there are more than enough to keep your hunger for inebriation in check for a good while. LOL

DucatiTorrey

so our trip has been great, hit up Phantom Canyon, i think we found an apartment, waiting to hear today, and checked out a number of areas in town. The weather was F'ing crazy though. Two pictures. Same day. 300 ft elevation change.

i know the speed limit is 20 through the Garden of the Gods, but I'm so riding through there.

Yup, Garden of the Gods is a good warmup for Ute Pass.  Glad you got to see what lies ahead weatherwise.  It does tend to be bipolar.  What is the date for your official move?  Let us know if you need a hand unloading.
The Smelly Pirate Hooker

DucatiTorrey

not 100% on the move in date, probably may 10 or 11

as for unloading, the movers will do all the heavy work for us. On perk of have a paid corporate move i guess. But yeah, we should grab a beer sometime.

Heading to Denver today to visit friends, then fly out tomorrow.

DT, read "local movers" thread in MHM section, and consider yourself warned!  [evil]
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I was kind of hoping to keep that on the downlow.  That little side business us girls have going, just trying to get the name out there, you know.

I'm not sure I want the Menopausal Movers helping me out on this one, thanks though! I liked the comment about the Risky Business outfit too.
