First, condolences.   It is tough when something you love turns on you  :(

Second, a home experiment.  Someone mentioned diabetes - if this is a blood-sugar related thing, try drinking some rum.  As you may know, pretty much all booze has unfermented sugars, except for rum - it is distilled into pure alcohol that they add water to make it drinkable.  At that, it is still arguable.  Blech.
Dunno your eating habits, but if you usually avoid them, try eating a bunch of sweets to see if you start feeling the same way.  I mention this because you said regular soda makes you feel crappy.  May be something to the insulin thing...

the diabetes thing is always a concern, but the only CBG abnormalities I have seen is hypoglycemia and it is always after being awake for extremely extended periods time (24+) and not eating and only when pop was part of the diet, I cut pop out for 18 months and never had an issue. oh and johnny, wine always gives me headaches, tanins or some such thing...sulfides?

Isn't 130 (BP 130/82) a little high, for someone your age?

Wine is generally more associated with headaches and other side effects than other forms of alcohol - it's all the sulfites.

Take some sort of ant-acid prior to wine drinking.

It will cure the headache from the sulfites  [thumbsup]

Borderline, not hypertensive, and only if it's a consistent reading.

Forget all that hoidy toidy wine bufoonery.

Think of wine as something you have around here & there. A table wine. a coffee table wine. A nightstand wine etc. Open a few bottles of red & let it breathe. Find what you like. It may be a french thing but its also an Itallian household thing, and a west coast thing.

A little wine is good for your stomach.

Sorry to hear about a major recreational channel going south. That always sucks.

Anything that you consume regularly has the danger of becoming an allergy. The body reacts to the allergen, booze, and you feel like crap. You have two choices with a food allergy:

Stop consuming the allergen  or
Stop consuming the allergen until the body calms down, then go for it again, and hope that the sensitivity is gone. [roll]

The blood sugar thing should be checked out, I like the home kits myself. I would do a home glucose tolerance test and check yourself hourly for 6 hours. It may take that long for the pancreas to go ka-blooey! (BS spike)

Not doing booze has some benefits, such as never having to worry about DUI's, [moto] blackouts,          blurtouts,  :-\  and reduced bellyfat. Clearly, you already know that.

Mother doesn't need booze to be Mother, either. You are doing great judging by your recent posts.  [coffee]
