Mebbe call the dealer?

Also, if you're looking for ample power (I'm guessing so, given the hemi thing), have you looked at the supercharged tundras?
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Nope, if you go to build it, I selected Sport, then black, then went to powertrain. The 4.7 is the standard engine. When you click to select the 5.7 Hemi, it says "you need to change an option to select this". The only color Sport model you can get with the 5.7 Hemi is Silver.

Let me clarify I have selected 4x4 and crew cab...
I didn't know 4wd would work under water.

Not to that point yet, I can afford to wait

Never saw that as an option...

Hmm, I bought a Sport in Mineral Gray with a 5.7 Hemi. They had a blue one too.

and when I "Build It",

" Model edit Sub Total: $38,295
2009 Ram 1500 Crew Sport 4x4  $38,295
Colors edit Sub Total: $0

Paint Table : Secondary w/Sport (Crew)  Included
Dark Slate Gray Interior Color  Included
Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat Exterior Paint  Included
Powertrain edit Sub Total: $1,310
5.7-Liter V8 HEMI MDS VCT Engine "

and my understanding is all "Sports" have the 5.7.

"Feature Availability

Add $5000-$5500 plus install for the TRD supercharger. The Tundra has ample power without it. It's just fugly.

OK, so I looked at the Dodge. Why is i I can't get the Hemi in black unless I get the top of the line Laramie? WTF?

Let's clarify.

Did you drive the '09 Ram?

What other '08/09 competitive models have you driven?

There's a question. Why aren't there any '09 Tundra's?

Looked up these options in CR buyes guide 2009:

The dodge 1500 is average, but again gets a very low rating in "drive systems".

The tundra gets a "much better than average"

mitt

New Dodge Rams (and many of their other vehicles) now include a lifetime (to the original owner) warranty on the powertrain (engine, transmission, drive system).

Tundra has a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty on the drive train.

Not that any of my Toyotas had issues but it's nice to know as long as i own the Dodge they will take care of the drivetrain.

Let me add, if you plan on doing serious towing, the 4.7 is not the engine I'd recommend.  The 360 (5.7 I think) makes its power in a much more tow-friendly manner.  The 4.7 is a fun "play" motor though, likes to rev and great for playing around off-road.  You'll get the same, if not better fuel mileage with the 360 ~

Production of '09 Tundra is very limited.  Plants were shut down from August through November due to economy slowing.

'10 Tundra production begins in April.

yer gonna say never, arent you.... :-\
If you drive the nicest car in the neighborhood, work in a cash business, and don't pay taxes, you're either a preacher or a drug dealer...

Randimus Maximus

given that the price of diesel is still significantly higher than gasoline in most (if not all) parts of the country....

and the fact that other manufacturers have delayed or cancelled bringing diesel powered passenger cars to the states....

I won't say never, but the outlook is distant.

mitt

You wouldn't want a diesel today in Iowa.  -30F, lots of trucks broke down with gelled fuel.
