If he could get a 335xi for $15k, that'd be an easy choice.  Hell, I'd buy a 335xi for ~$15k.

Most of the pre-owned ones are priced in the $35-40k range.

+1

I'd looooooooove to have an xi.....perfect for this miserable state.

21 is better than 13  ;)

who's driven a mini?
how are they?

also
G35 coupe vs G35 Sedan.
besides 4-doors and a different body, what are the differences?
is it just looks that seems to be jacking the price of the coupe up?

All wheel drive version only comes in the sedan ( I think)  My buddy got 26 mpg with his first tank (commuting).

My sister-in-law has a Mini.  Cute and fun, and they handle great.  The flip-side to the go-kart-like handling is that the ride is very harsh on bumpy pavement.  We live in MN, and the Mini can do a good job of shaking your teeth fillings loose on our moon-cratered roads.   [laugh]

They aren't very good in any kind of real snow (3" or more), if that's a significant consideration for you.  They don't weigh much and have little ground clearance.  I suppose some true snow tires would help, but an AWD car will always outshine it in inclement weather.

The newer ones come with AWD on the coupe, but they are likely out of his price range...

so why is a used Nissan 350z the same price as an Infiniti g35?

do they make more power, or something i'm missing besides the "z"?

they are built around the same fundamentals.   The biggest differences I see are sheet metal and interior design especially between the g35 coupe which is pretty much a 350z rebadge with nicer leather.  the impression i get from reviews is the 350z is the sports car and the infini coupe is the sport tourer.

I'm sure I've over simplified but if you do a search on g35 coupe v. 350z i'm sure one of the rags has done a comparo.

Because of the aluminum construction it's 1000# lighter than anything in it's class. They truly drive like it's a much smaller car. My best friend has one and it's f-ing amazing!

The older S8s are awesome cars.  Probably the cars I saw the fewest problems on when I was an Audi Tech.  Those 4.2 motors are bulletproof.
