I'm so dumbfounded.  She lives in a decent little neighborhood too.  I can't even fathom how this type of person justifies stealing from an elderly, helpless woman.

It started off as just a snowy day.  Her driveway had a substantial amount of snow on it and a couple of youngsters (still not sure on their age) came by and offered to clear off her drive.  Excellent!  THAT is something you don't see too often anymore and when I was listening to the story from my dad, I was initially impressed.  Grandma agrees and offers them $10 each to clear it off.  Transaction completed, yes?  Apparently not.

A day or two later (whenever the next "dusting" was) one of the little bastards comes back to her house and declares that he owes her another $20 for doing the driveway early that morning.  Keep in mind that this snow was nowhere near the caliber of the last one and really did not require anything more than a broom to clear off.  Confused (obviously) grandma says that she won't pay him because she doesn't think he did anything and he actually argues with her over payment!

My grandma is the sweetest lady you will EVER meet in your life.  She's very quiet and reserved...in fact....just think Betty Crocker, only with less conversation.  She agrees to pay him (it's just 20 bucks) in return for his word that he never come around her house or neighborhood again lest he risk a call to the police.  It bothers me that people will actually take advantage of the good nature of someone like this.

It gets stranger.  Apparently the boys gave her their numbers when they initially went over there to shovel her drive.  Their phone numbers!!  I don't understand.  So these people are bullying her around knowing full well that she has their contact information. The next day she finds a message on her machine from Damian (who had previously referred to himself as 'Justin') saying she still owed him money for the work he did that morning at 5AM.  Huh?  She calls my dad and lets him in on all this and he agrees to be on watch for her as my parents only live a block away.  Later that day, Justin/Damian drops by for his "payment".  She tells him to go away and that she's going to call the police.  Damian doesn't like this.  He proceeds to open up the door (it wasn't locked?  I don't know the particulars), shove her aside and yank her purse and wallet from the chair in the living room.  He:  twenty something fit male.  She:  84 year old woman with parkinsons.  Holy christ on a crutch why would someone do this?  I'm just glad she's not hurt or there would be hell to pay.

Dad called the numbers they had left with her initially, one of which was disconnected.  Surprise, surprise.  The other actually got him some person who may or may not have know who he was talking about.  More sketchy people, great.  The police officer shows up take the report, and as it turns out he's been looking for the kid for some time.  The phone number (per the cops) has a Damian listed on it on a secondary line.  The plot thickens.  The officer is planning on bringing a slew of photos over to her house tomorrow to see if she can pick him out of a line up.  He's allegedly pulled some other shit before but they've never had evidence enough to bring him in.  I'm pumped.  I hope they nail the little prick.  I've already yelled at some people about this, but it feels to get it down 'on paper' as well.  I was never one to retaliate in a situation like this.  I'd rather let the police do their jobs, but if I still lived there I can garauntee I would have been staying at her house for a while and the situation would have gone differently.  Arghhhhhh!

Ok, I'm done.

Some people are pricks...  seriously.  I'd be happy to shovel my 84-year-old neighbor's sidewalk, driveway etc for free, just because I'm able bodied and would feel terrible if he/she tried and got hurt trying.  Send him down here and we'll give him a deep south education on respecting our elders...

Okay... where are the rusty spoons?  >:(

People like that need to be sent to Sheriff Joe down in Phoenix.  If he doesn't cure 'em, they need to be removed from society.

Exactly!  Unfortunately I don't think this had anything to do with shoveling snow for an old lady.

Wow.

Just wow.

Those kids need beat.

They need beat within an inch of their lives.  I don't think anything else would teach them a lesson.

If that's all they understand, someone needs to grab them and speak their language.

If anyone had done that to my grandmother, I would have killed him.  I would have make the beast with two backsing killed him.  Seriously.  Invite him into the house and kill him.  You'd get away with it, and you'd be doing the world a HUGE favor.

That sucks big time, glad the old lady are ok though [thumbsup]

That pisses me off about bad enough to go find the little bastards and I don't even know you or your Grandma.

They better seriously be glad that isn't my Grandma (my Mom's Mom).  I would probably end them if my Dad didn't get to them first.  And God help them if we both found them at the same time.   >:(

Amen to that, when did our society start pushing off adult responsibility till someone felt like it?
