Cool. So Scott, I would think you can unplug at the sidestand and put a jumper (read paperclip) in the two contacts and be good to go.

Yes its 2, green and black, just splice and tie-together... there wont be any issues, no groups, no potential current draw, nada...
Kewl! Gonna go test it now

while I would almost think this would pass, just the thought of that alone scares me... lol...
you could also just get an extra female plug-in side and have a spare already cut one and a normal one... not to mention if you do take the kick stand off, its a pain in the ass getting off the bike and dealing with a stand all the time... at least for me on race days... I also make sure I bring a buddy or something...

Baxley Wheel Chock would cure that James. Ride into the chock then use the stand

Holy CRAP, Batman... I had already taken the kickstand off, & I had also unplugged the switch cable. I had just assumed it wouldn't work I know, never assume). I hit the switch & it started right up, no paper clip or anything!!!
(There's only 2 wires from the bike to the connector, but 3 wires to the switch. WTF?)
So, never mind....

ya I thought that was strange too when I was working on it... I was following wire for about 20 minutes then just decided to do the other side with just 2 wires, lol.

Scott, I brought the kickstand switch into the plant and had one of our electrical mechanics take the connector off, numbering the leads, and taking the connector and making a jumper, so now it has the factory sealed connector on it. If I ever want to sell the 900 I can bring it back in and he can convert it back. I'll show you when I bring the bike over next week for Randy.

The 1098 must be different... Maybe they EXPECT you to take the stand off?!?
Starts right up, no probs, with no connector, no jumper, no splicing, Nuthin'!

Did you put it in gear to see if it will KEEP running?
My 1098 will run and start with the kicker up or down... but will stall out if down and in gear.
It may depend on the ECU you've got... ...?
