My Thursday was eventful but unproductive.

I wrote off the Mondeo's LHS front wheel rim with accompanying rapid air loss and severely damaged the LHS rear rim hitting a small but deep pothole on the way to work this morning.  Not on a backroad either... a main Highway.

In the rain  :(

Mondeo only has a stupid 80km/h rated space-saver spare too  :-\

Before I'd got the piece of crap which passes for a vehicle jack out of the boot...

"bang!! thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud" ...along comes another victim, a young woman with babies in the back of the car....  Her LHS front alloy rim... buckled beyond repair too.   While I was changing her wheel...

"bang!! thud,thud,thud,thud,thud,thud"....  one more...

Before I left the roadside there were another two "bang!! thud,thud,thud,thud,thud,thuderers"...  Plus another guy who stopped to say the same thing happened to him (and 3 others while he was there) the previous morning.... he'd reported it to the Roads Authority but they'd done nothing to fix it.  Not even put up a hazard sign  [bang].

I called into the local Cop Shop to report it, but the Sergeant behind the desk was too busy not giving a fat rats arse to do anything.  Even me asking if he was gonna wait for the head-on collision was like water off a duck's back  [bang].

So with one skinny 80km/h wheel and one damaged but still holding air wheel I limped the 100km to a Ford dealer who had 2 new rims in stock for me.... hung around while they fitted me into their schedule....  and then the day was over.

A day at the Ford dealer is better than a day at the mine...

no? ;)

Ahhh..yes.

There is that.

At least you didn't have co-workers asking you to do their work for them. :P

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Sorry to hear about the damage Ung.  Did the local agency responsible for the road maintenance in the area accept any responsibility?  A bridge in a nearby town damaged some tires/rims and the city (responsible for the bridge & road maintenance) had to cover the repair costs.

Good news on the house dp, I feel your pain on the check though, no fun writing big ones.

I guess the check can wait till tomorrow.
