A hip roof....  As in  8)    ?

Or it's only as tall as your hip.  Tall enough for our dmf hobbits?

Well...

yes... ;D

but ...

no.

A hip roof just has more than 2 slopes

Ning peeps. It is good to be home. We only spent one night and 2 days away. It seemed like a week  :P

Getting up and walking 6 blocks before my coffee to walk the blind dog is no picnic either. His building is right at the first stop in the free bus zone. Crack heads everywhere at all hours. They were very active this morning.

I got just what I asked for this year! Cash. $237 was the final total I think. :)
I did get one gift card from the brother in law, but that's ok.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

MoreNing.

Went to the city shelter the this am...the mastiff we saw online was gone.

They did have a shepard mix puppy that they picked up yesterday.  Will have to wait to see if he's claimed and if our application is approved.

They have sooo many pit bulls and cats.  It breaks my heart to see these animals without a family.   :'(

Headed to the SPCA in a bit to see what they have.

We look at the humane society web site every day. I love seeing the new dogs that go in and then the big red adopted tag next to them as they go out. I feel for the ones that have been there 6 or more months.

Good luck on getting the right dog for you.

Yup, same here. Very sad. A good place to donate my time and money though.  [thumbsup]

Hope you're feeling better J-man!   :P    Hate illness during holidays!

Que the Willie Nelson.  We're "on the road again".  18 hours starting with nearly freezing rain.  Hoping we get outta here before it changes to slushy snow.  Even with new tires, the work issued hoopdie's traction is the suck.

At least you are traveling toward the warm, sunny weather of Paradise. 8)

I see someone changed a screen name...  Like there is a significant event she doesn't want to go by unnoticed...
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Goodness, we have only 12 days to figure out what the significant event is!  ;D

It was great meeting "The Dude" at long last.   She brought us some epic beer.

Watching the cornfields go by from the rumble seat that B-dawg is kind enough to share.  Reading him stories from my "Dogs of War" book that I got for Christmas. Bittersweet stories at that.    [thumbsdown] but  [thumbsup]

I'm sure he is enjoying that book more than other books out there...

My father told me about a dog, odd moment with him...he was very selective about what he shared of his wartime experience...

it was when I brought my first GSD home to visit many many years ago when I was in my 20's

About a German Shepherd that he ran across during WW2.  He said after the Battle of the Bulge as they headed across Europe a lot of the German troops were surrendering...

being in Recon on a jeep he was always on point for the main forces so he got to draw fire and/or alternately deal with surrendering troops

One time a German ObersturmWhatever and a few dozen of his men surrendered. The Colonel or General or whatever had a stunning shepherd at his side.

After they got all the weapons and such from the German troops  they asked the commander to turn over the dog and he refused....

the German thought they were going to shoot it.  My father said he couldn't believe it but tears were running down this commander's face...

he was willing to get shot before he would give up the dog,,,,, after probably months if not years of human and logistical losses this battle-weary guy reached his breaking point

My father who spoke German and was doing the translating stepped in and explained to him that the dog would not be killed

but would instead be highly regarded for breeding purposes and was going to be taken to the rear (which was true)

With that explanation the commander ordered his dog to go with GI's....he wept....

my father said he looked at the prisoners and the group of GI's that all were looking on...people who hours or days before were killing each other

and he said more than a few were unsuccessfully trying to keep their composure at the sight ....

they just felt and understood this guy's sorrow...despite the fact that they all had shut off their feelings about so much in order to keep going

the relationship between a human and his dog just created its own separate context amid the utter insanity

and it pierced them
This is an insult to the Pez community
