but then my hand would chop the throttle once the front did anything funny despite my brain telling it that that was the wrong thing to do.
my brain tells me chopping the throttle is the right thing to do in those circumstances.

But I'm learning to ignore it.  On the dirt when its all going to make the beast with two backs, stand up and WOT  [laugh]

fixes everything  :o

in my 20's I would have had a lack of fear or at least disregard for it, now it impedes me heavily in these new to me things
need to find some soft stuff nearby to practice, practice, practice now
The other thing constantly in the back of my mind was that I had to ride the bike 110 miles home afterward

And there was one hill that I absolutely couldn't get myself to do. Every one else did, I just couldn't even try.

it was a downhill that was practically a drop straight down about 30-40 ft
the pro guy went down it and up it and down it etc.
And he was on an '88 NX 650 with tires that weren't even close to being knobbies. so none of us had any excuses

lean back, stay in first or second gear, stay off the throttle and brakes and just go. I completely see how in actuality it would have been easy but I just couldn't do it. By this point in the day I had lost all my confidence in myself.
I'm starting to upload some video now. First ones will be when he took my bike and another guy's for a ride. He proved to me that even with the tire size and type on mine, the soft stuff was completely doable and then on a KTM 990 Adventure he blasted around looking like something straight from Dakar footage. It was his first time ever on a bike that big but it didn't look it.

It's all he does. He's been riding motocross professionally for 25 years and has a training facility to teach others. It's all he does, there is no 9-5 bullshit job. He's got more hours on bikes than we could even comprehend.

Where I live it's almost all up or down .When going downhill,it's not lean back,it's get your ass out over the rear wheel.Front brake,no,rear brake, yes.Pick your line before you head down.
