wow... rat... i hope this can get sorted out. hasn't FEMA stepped up???

[laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]  not on the north side of the island...not even here as a token presence..

if they are anywhere they are down in the flooded areas

the only reason our "on property" downed trees are cut and stacked is that we paid out of pocket up here to private crews

figuring we would fight our home policy carriers later

we expected the Town at least to clear the roads of downed trees and the LIPA-contract crews to clear the trees on the power lines

this entire area is in Epic Fail mode....the infrastructure and services are no longer capable of sustaining the crush of population density from an economic, functional or operational aspect

the area is a house of cards, pull one card and the tower of pretend collapses

the tax revenue money and talent are no longer here to make a good go of it...the money has gone to pay for the hundreds of public payroll relatives serving as the Assistant to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner's Assistant for Water and Sewage Services etc

This is an insult to the Pez community

my biggest fear is that it will affect home values....this house is going on the market in 12-18 months and I am leaving NY for good

my family had no business winding up here, historically speaking

my family that lives on the shore bought far enough away from the ocean, to have escaped severe property losses.
the properties my dad owns (where i grew up), also managed to elude mother nature, with the flood waters coming with 2 blocks of one of them

i do love it down there, it's home. i haven't visited the area since the storm - i've only seen photos. i'm not sure i'm ready to see it in person.

I had to open a new bank account yesterday. They are open M-F 9 to 5 and that's it.

I took off work an hour early. I got half an hour of parking by the bank. I go in and they get the process started. I can see from the paper in front of the banker that it will more complicated than I want. They want to form a relationship with me. Told him I was just now getting out of a relationship and did not need a new one. I just want some place to park my money. He tells me it will take an hour to open the account. Nope. I gave him half an hour and no more. The poor guy was sweating by the time we were done 26 minutes later!

Rat can nothing else be done to check if the lines are dead?

Not sure what FEMA is doing now, but I do know that they deployed these guys from Cali and quite a few from Portland (Mother stayed home this time), to evacuate the hospitals and such.

Speaking of Portland, we are riding through on the train on the way up to Seattle first part of January. I'll look out the widow and wave I guess.

Downstairs at work doing the proctoring again. 3 people  are taking the FBI intelligence analyst writing test and the rest want to deliver mail.

This morning was interesting. I went to a sewage treatment plant to teach chemical safety and then did and audit of the facility.
