Thats because you have a machine to operate and don't have to just stare at the seat back wishing you had something to operate. Also I bet nobody gives you the pat down like you were a criminal and makes you take off you boots on the way out to the aircraft.

I actually knew about the bending machine, it was big news down here at the time coz ComEng in Melbourne tendered for the bending machine contract but it ended up going to a Japanese company....

 

... I think the integrated rest room facility is what won the deal for Matsushita.
