My eldest is running for school captain next year and had her first interview yesterday! That's round one down and very proud she made it this far. Doesn't take after me thats for sure! Does bare a resemblance to the milkman though!

Oldest is unwell, my turn to take a day of carer's leave!

It's quite a novelty to be home off work and not be unwell! Nice treat actually!

Ripper day outside 20 degrees of ours and I can't go for a ride! Lol!

What is a school captain and what does one do?

SCs, are recognised leaders, from Grade 6, who are meant to represent their peers at meetings, head up the Junior School Council, run activities (sport, peer support, fundraising etc) and make speeches and presentations when needed AND generally be an all round excellent example of friendship, leadership and school representation!

"Holders of the office of School Captain are elected as a Prefect before being appointed by the Principal. As the most senior representatives of the student and Prefect bodies, School Captains fulfill a range of leadership roles both within the school and in the wider community. School Captains meet regularly with the Principal and Deputies."

They also MC the school parade every week which would be daunting for me!

Sounds like the school administration has a say in what students get picked. Not here. All voting is done by students. A student decides to run and if they win the vote, they are it.  We don't have prefects in public schools here.
