You must have Movies and stuff.

My disk says      Available :   423.13 GB out of 499.25 GB

My guess is the same as yours, that you probably don't need all that stuff on your laptop and you should probably get it off onto something else.

160G of moto racing.

I'm leaning towards a NAS device of some type.

You have one or some in mind?
Just started looking.

I'd like to get something with multiple drives in a RAID configuration for storage of important things as well as media.

They get expensive.

As far as backup goes they have these sort of things for pretty cheap. It's not raid but the chances of your storage and the backup going out at the same time are slim.

Thanks...

That doesn't address the issue of getting the stuff off my computer though, unless you're suggesting that unit and another in tandem.

Granted the media isn't all that important, but I'd like to download to and store on the NAS rather than it ever touching the laptop.

I was thinking in Tamdem with the NAS. That may or may not be any cheaper. With this at least your stuff is backed up.

You could also just get another external drive and put videos on there too.

Afternoon.

I've got a 3TB external.  Currently, 177GB is the size of the folder I put the pictures I take.  Other stuff taking a lot of space are the the video files from my Contour, music videos and music.

Afternoon. I don't think i'm going to run out of space any time soon on my puter, bit I bought a 2 TB backup/Router that works seamlessly in the background. It makes hourly back ups, then when it has a bunch of those, a weekly one and a monthly one.

the_Journeyman

Sounds like a nice setup, out of the way and don't have to think about backing up all the time.
