I have plenty of insulation, but mine is all rigid foam outside the building envelope with empty bays inside. It seems that without the air space that occurs with fiberglass batts or blown in cellulose there is little sound deadening from the closed cell foam.

Yea..I have an attic full of trusses over at the building with insulation rolled in on top of the ceiling, so that helps with the sound. Its delightful to crawl up there.  :P

Speeddog

I forgot it was the rigid foam, but yeah, not much damping there.

Attics with naked batting or the blown cellulose are special places, and get more special with age.

The GF's attic wasn't bad, as it was only a couple years old, but spent enough time up there doing electrical for a pendant lamp.
I was nervous as the ceiling there was about 20', a long fall onto a glass top dining room table.

Someday I hope to own something new like nate. But at least it's mine and I dont pay rent.

Got Casino Royale on. I Like that one.

The trade off is worth it.

The house is draft free, and there isn't a cold corner to be found...and with the lack of moisture absorbing material in the wall cavities, I don't have to worry about mold ever being an issue.

I couldn't be happier with the performance so far.

None of which is a concern in SoCal. :P

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I may have mentioned before that certain neighborhoods around here have the benefit of geothermal heating. Most of those houses are un insulated. They can just let the heat fly and not have to pay for it.

Unfortunately for me I don't live in one of those neighborhoods.

This one?

Of course not. The newer one with Daniel Craig

Speeddog

Eh, good insulation is nice out here too, it protects against the thermonuclear heating.

We can get mold down here, but it takes 3-stooges construction or plumbing to do it.
I bet Dave could get mold going pretty easy.

Casino Royale?
I never liked wicker chairs much, less so after that.

Its high & dry here for n general, so mold isnt so much an issue like it was over on the Nor Cal coast. But it gets pretty cold in the winter. But not like in the NE. Think Reno NV for weather, its kinda like that.

Popeye the Sailor

The old house was in a forest of mold-it tried to show up constantly.

This one is highly unlikely.

I do have a window that doesn't close.

Can't tell from the draft though.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Ok so far.

Hasn't been happening long enough for much to go wrong.
