Franklin Falls is a flood control dam built during WWII by the Army Corps of Engineers...no falls anymore.

There are miles of walking/bicycling/horseback riding trails and no hunting allowed.

Sounds like a great place to live, and raise kids. I had mental images of a frozen waterfall mid winter, something I've only seen in documentaries.

Turns out I was wrong about the no hunting.

They have signs all over about no firearms or other weapons like a bow...but you can hunt.

Confusing to say the least.

I've never seen a hunter there.

Nate, the hunting must be restricted to special permits I guess. A special licence to hunt where it's otherwise prohibited in order to cull the population of whatever when it gets out of hand.

We have that issue with roos and dear from time to time. They say there are more dear than wallabies now in the local forests.

I remember being in the states and got some attitude, I said I was Aussie and the guy said "Sorry man, I thought you were a Limey". He offered to buy me a beer to apologise.

There are some around. This area is almost 4K acres...you'd expect there are a few. Most of the hunters probably go deeper than the walkers/bikers.
