Speeddog,

I have a mate who's building a Spitfire. Out if wood. He's a QANTAS pilot, and has been obsessed with Spits since he was a young fella.

He's got a V12 Allison engine for it. That alone was 50K. A Merlin would have been around the 65-70K mark!

Here's some pics he recently sent me.

This is being hand made by himself in the purpose-built workshop out the back of his house.

Goodness C, sounds like you can't catch a break.  Hopefully the next few days will be uneventful!

Looks like it will be heavier than aluminum.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I had a bad experience once with girl scout cookies that was of my own doing.

Good news Carlos! Glad nothing from the broken leg was further damaged.

Looks like it will be heavier than aluminum.

I think so. I'll ask him about it, but IIRC, he chose wood because he knew he would be able to work okay with it and it's cheaper, and the Spit would be more stable with some extra weight.

Pretty much spot on!

She'll be right is sometimes also said 'She'll be apples!'

Also, grommet can also be used to describe someone who is lax with their personal hygiene. 'You dirty grommet' or just 'grommet' may be used.*

Always fun to talk to my brother. He tells me he's tired cause he's been up since 3AM pushing people on parachutes out of a C130 and that his day isn't done cause he needs to push people out of an osprey. His job sucks  Grin
