Mechanic said the starter is toast, belts are original, and the clutch slave is likely leaking.  All things that can be fixed.  He was very surprised at how clean it is.  No corrosion  on any of the aluminum where he would expect for a 13yo bike.  Will give me quote tomorrow.

Fire department just left.  There was an alarm going off in the offices above us.  Must not have been serious.

Those aren't too difficult to take care of.  I had to do the slave on my M750.  Didn't take long.  Belts are belts and starters can usually get a rebuild for not too much.
