Our Euro built Colt Cabriolet Turbo couldn't handle crap Aussie roads. It chewed tyres and got a very noisy front end very quickly. It was a great car otherwise and fun to drive but not robust enough. A flexy enough front end that the mechanics broke a windscreen changing front end components when the firewall flexed! Must have sagged on the hoist as they tore it apart. :o
We were glad to have the extended warranty, that's for sure.

I have been advised by my car mechanics that many Euro models aren't up to what we call roads here.

Yes...the car is shit.

I dunno about Euro cars not being up to our roads Tony. Lots of people put lots of miles on Euro cars here.

The roads mess with all brands here. It's the frost heaves in the spring mostly. Some are more like stone walls across a road than anything else.

Frost heaves are when expanding ice pushes the bitumen into a pile?

We get pot holes and road "tits" which look like giant nipples pushed up by I don't know what. My monster got airborne hitting one. The pot holes form quickly and someone hits them before they are reported and repaired. They are the main cause of damage around here. The road tits might be from extreme heat, but I'm guessing. Ung might know, he's full of info.

I think the small Euro cars, the budget ones, struggle here. Our Colt had a shared platform with companies like Renault, Fiat, etc iirc.

Lots of stuff varies even from car to car of the same make and model.  My Dakota is 14 years old.  Everything is great except the headliner has completely turned loose and my fan controls work only on high.  Driveline and such is great.  I know plenty others that have had nothing but motor or transmission issues.

There is a resistor in the heater plenum to control fan speed. Usually accessed from the engine compartment. Cheap fix.

I might check that out, my Ford/Mazda Courier has the fan only operate at high and very high. The things you learn here. ;D

Definitely in the engine compartment on yours Tony. Look for a harness with a plug with about 4 wires going to a place you wouldn't think needed juice. ;D
