"There are known knowns - these are things we know that we know.

There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know.

But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know."

Once I fill out the forms I'm a known known.  So I can come in  [thumbsup]

If I don't fill out the forms I'm a known unknown.

And if their immigration checks go back far enough they'll work out that they dont know why they dont know why I'm returning to a country that they have no record of me leaving.

I've been ignoring it, even though I know it's not gonna go away.

Nah, at LAX they know I arrived.

Went like this:

US Immigration Official:  "Good Morning Sir( :o), what can I do for you?"  (Seriously).

Me:  "You can allow me into your country please  ;D"

US Immigration Official:  "How long are you intending to say Sir( :o)?"

Me:  (Broke and knowing my limited funds would be a problem)  "24 hours"

US Immigration Official:  "24 hours??!!??      You flew all the way from Noo Zealand (flight's origin) to stay in the United States.....  just   T W E N T Y   F O U R  H O U R S ???"

Me:  "Yes sir( ;))"

Passport stamped with "Permission to remain the the United States of America for six months".........

I thought seriously about it.....  but boarded my flight to Baltimore the following morning...

.... in Baltimore they pulled the engine shrouds apart and I laughed at the thought of the poor suckers who would fly that shit bucket DC10 back to LA.

And wondered where I'd board my onward flight to London.

[laugh]

Yup.

Same DC10.

Half way across the Atlantic it occurred to me that I'd not gone thru US passport control in LA (a domestic flight to Baltimore after all).... and that in Baltimore I'd not gone through exiting passport control either....  :-\

So......... to this day..... there's record of me arriving at LAX.... but no record of me ever having departed Baltimore for LHR.

Those were different times, eh.

these days it defies existence).
