Just snacked on some chocolate covered pretzel thing.

It was quite tasty.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I have a set of KLR luggage I can sell if you go that route.

I spent a few months on an 800gs. I found the bike capable, predictable, and utterly uninspiring.

If I was to fill the garage I'd have a 1200gs, an NC700, and a WR250.

Do you think the 1200GS is better on crappy back roads/ logging roads and so fourth than a lighter bike like the 800? Cause the 1200 just looks too big and heavy to me.

Those are no good for you.  ;D

I feel the 1200gs is one of the better balanced bikes out there.

For logging roads it's fine-anything tighter than that and either would be too big.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

~~~SNIP~~~
If you're riding solo on dirt, you'll eventually drop the bike.
The 1200 is going to be harder to pick up due to being ~100 lbs heavier.
Depending on the situation, it may be impossible.
What did you feel the 800 lacked?
It didn't lack anything. It evoked absolutely no emotion in any sense whatsoever.
^This.
When the bottom of the wheels is the highest part of the motorcycle picking up a DR650 is a task plenty tough enough for the lone rider.
G650GS engines are assembled in China by Loncin (from parts manufactured by Rotax in Austria).  That AFAIK is the only Chinese connection.  But go ahead.... prove me wrong about the frames  [popcorn]
