I'll be convinced it's Friday when I see pom poms.

Until then, it's just another day that ends in "y".

It does.  Rugby.  Soccer.  And Football.

But some parts of Australia get confused.  It's probably due to the banana fumes.

In QLD and NSW they (incorrectly) call Rugby (both kinds) football.

In the rest of Australia AFL (aka Aussie Rules) is (correctly) called football.

The round ball game is called Soccer (despite some attempts to assert it as "football").  After all, our national Soccer team is called the Socceroos.  Not the Footballeroos.

Hope that clears up the confusion  ;D
