Detroit never seemed so safe.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

My sister in Titusville called on Thursday wanting money to hurricane prep her house. I said no.

Problem is, a few weeks ago she called crying that the power was going to be cut off, could I help with the bill. $145 - all paid up now thanks to me. Then a week or so after that, she calls, in distress - wanting to kill herself, back of drugs, after 8 years of being clean. Her boyfriend too.

As of Thursday, she claims to be clean for 5 days. I hope the best for her, but there is nothing I can do to help her. I really felt like a bad person, because one thought was maybe it would be good if she died in the hurricane. She has health problems and no health care. No job, no car, no drivers license or ID, no copy of her birth certificate. She is not a functioning adult.

I don't really want her to die, but I don't want to worry all the time either or know that her future is bleak. She is 55 years old, has made it this far, so she does have some mad survival skills.

Just blowing off steam here. Thanks.

Evening . . .

Grandma is OK . . . herself and one other patient are in the house . . the other 3 were taken to another facility since they they need to be hooked to either Oxygen or something else . . .
