Weird day.

Helped out at the club this am servicing some clay throwers. Missed the fed-Ex guy, by a half hour, on a package that needed a signature. [bang]

Loaded up for the dump, and when I got back I walked up on to the porch to the main entrance to the house, and I hear this growling. I look up and right there in front of me is a raccoon with a face full of porcupine quills. I stop, and he stands his ground growling away. In case you don't know raccoons that are healthy, are not aggressive and shy away from people. It was pretty obvious this one was rabid.

I walked around to the other door of the house and went in that door. Went and grabbed a shotgun, and a turkey load...wanted to make sure...and went to the door to the other porch. The raccoon was eating cat food right outside the door, so I opened it and hollered at him. He came towards me, so I closed the door. He then went back to eating cat food.

I figured he wasn't going to leave the porch, and I didn't want to mess up the decking with a shotgun, if the pattern opened up or I missed, so I grabbed a .22 and loaded it. I then started banging on the window trying to get him to leave the porch. He came to the door and started scratching on it trying to get in. Then he turned, and attacked a bag of charcoal that was on the porch. Tipping over and pissing all over himself, he finally turned, the other way, and climbed down off the porch.

Zeke was due home from school in a very few minutes, and I couldn't take the chance of a meeting between them, so I opened the door and dispatched the raccoon.

A call to fish and game soon had me washing the deck with a 50/50 solution of bleach and water, and removing the carcass to the woods.

I learned something today. If a rabid animal dies, the virus dies soon after...within hours. As long as there's no contact it's all good.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Morning.

Rabies is at the top of the list of things I don't want to get.

Horrible way to die.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Stopping for some mid-day fuel [coffee] and responding to emails.

Hope you're all surviving, rabid-free.

Another long day at work. The CEO stopped by my office and made a crack that I thought highly of myself. I think he was talking about the L&I visits. Then he said he was kidding and "good work" then breezed right out. Weird.

ducpainter

Why wouldn't you think 'highly' of yourself?

Tell him to put his money where his mouth is.

Morning.   [coffee]

Less than 6 hrs of sleep the last two nights is starting to catch up with me.

LMT, the CEO sounds like a TOOL.  You should be proud of yourself and he should be thanking you everyday for the $$ you have saved the company.

In other news, B and I have separated and will be getting a divorce.  It is what is best for both of us.

Morning . .

Sorry to hear L, best wishes for you . . .

DP, yesterday all the construction trash was taken away and there was a boatload of toads, 5 snakes and dunno how many other weird crawlers, that garbage stood there for about 3 months and I made numerous requests to have it removed, city/county came by and wanted to fine me, I showed all my requests made and the same as "closed" meaning it was done, didn't get the $2500 fine and had to only pay a $40 fee to take it all away . . . to a private party that is "subsidized" by city/county . . . All in all, good, except for this cold/flu whatever you want to call it that wont respond to cold-flu meds . .

have a day all
