They seem unclear on the concept of pandemic and remote work.

Indeed. Yes.  The waffling is the most consistent thing.  That is what bothers me the most.

Work from home for 4-8 weeks.
(1 week later.). Nah, c'mon back to the office.
Oh! You actually have a pre-existing condition. Ok, you can go home.
Nah, c'mon back to the office...

I've made my mind up: If they absolutely insist, I'm gone & either they can hire me as a contractor, or they can F off...
