Not going to willingly join a VS forum.

Me neither (though I did just set up an ID at a Suzuki Sidekick forum and realized when I was in it that it looked weirdly familiar...   )

I thought I had set up an ID/Password at ADVRider when I started looking at bikes that led me to the Cagiva... but apparently not.

However, it looks like I can view the forums without logging in if I go through https://www.advrider.com/f/#fluff.7 - the most active thread over on the right-hand column right now is "A new operator of ADVRider" - I've only dipped a toe in, but that's about all the deja vu I need for one day...

As I posted earlier I was on the Ducati Monster forum or list when VS came to town. somewhere around 06 I think. So you all should go take a look over there at some of their handiwork that has had time to /sarcasm/ grow /sarcasm/. Activity logs are days and months old save for the main thread. And in there is only recent post. Go take a look at our future.

And unfortunately it is about the money in more ways than one. The spin-off, which seems to still be true to the original intent, is in trouble. It takes money to fund the server space.

It was awesome fun while it lasted. I learned a lot in this place and even meated a few of ya. ADV is ginormous so it will take a while, but in the end the the stand-up dudes and dudettes that make this place tick will not stick around for the VS variant of the virus.

TLDR: we're make the beast with two backsed

I want to emphasize that we're not "in trouble". It's just that we don't have much sponsorship, and our server costs are spendy. We got where we are because back in the day there were 11ty billion hits per second on the forum, and this level of server was necessary...not from a storage standpoint, but from a simultaneous connection standpoint.

I have no real desire to migrate to a different host, although I just got an email that might require that due to our deprecated forum software.

Regardless, it'll all work out. It always does, one way or another.
