They know winter is a coming, that ski story will only last so long when they're paying $200 a month to heat their house, while we've got the windows open. [laugh]

Hmm...  I pay $3.62/gal to go split & load a truck full of wood.  I make 1-2 trips a month.  It's 16 miles, and my truck gets about that a gallon.  Another gallon for the log splitter for the entire month comes to....  A little under $12/month.  Add in the electricity to run the stove blower, then I *might* be up to $20-$25 a month  [laugh]

You must be young....

what's your day worth?

...and how much time do you spend lugging wood after it's cut?

I burned 10 cords a year in this old place...

only to wake up freezing.

No more I tell ya. [laugh]

We have not turned on the heat in our Settle condo yet.  Made it through 1 and half winters without it.  We do use the gas fireplace stove because it is pretty.  Have to open a window though because it gets too warm.

Our place is well insulated and only 6 years old.

Im thinking about adding a small wood stove to run on the weekends to help cut down on nat'l gas.  Can get wood for nothing.

Gas bill is part of our homeowners dues.  Gas range/oven in the kitchen and gas fireplace can be used without worry.  I think most people here eat out a lot.  We cook.  Except for the other night when I charred!

chilly start here in NE this morning...
it's perfect cuddle weather  :)
