If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

It was a dark  and stormy night.... Jack Daniels and is best friend Luca (aka Capt'n Morgan) were running guns to the PLO.
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

Good evening all. Today is my last day of work until the 12th. When I leave here tomorrow morning, I don't have to shave for 2+ weeks. I'm a happy man. But, it'll still barely look like a 3 o'clock shadow.

Duc's back from the shop, she's happy - I'm happy - everyone's happy. I didn't even have to use my AK. Today was a good day.

It will be Christmas here in just over 3 hours.

I'll be sleeping soundly in my rack. I will wake up tomorrow, have some eggs and stale donuts because Dunkin doesn't deliver. That's ok. Sometimes, day old donuts taste better. I will ensure the ship is swept and the lights are turned off at sunrise. I will be relieved around 8am to a Duty Section that, through the luck of the draw, has Duty on Christmas. We will exchange pleasantries. But, deep down, we're glad to be going home. For most, not because it's Christmas and we're trying to hurry home to family and presents. Just because we get to go home. Get to sleep. Get to spend a day not worrying about work. I asked many people what they had planned for tomorrow. Most just answered "I dunno" like it's not Christmas. There's no waking up around the fireplace. No kids running into parents rooms ready to open presents. Nothing Norman Rockwell. I celebrated my Christmas the 23rd. Not for any particular reason. Just because I was off the day before and I got to wake up in my own bed.

Some may see this as a "bahh humbug" or Scrooge of some sort. But, it really isn't. It's just another day. There are boxes of presents shipped from the states mixed in with online orders of "To: Me From: Santa" scattered throughout the shop and the ship. Above my desk, I've got a handful of wrapped presents from my mother sitting with a DMF shirt Speeddog shipped out here quickly for my trip to Australia. I've been sent snacks and goodies from DesmoDiva. I've received a very nice flask of 10 year old parts cleaner from Rameses to go along with a replacement microswitch. And, I'm sure a few more that I'm forgetting this evening. My holidays come often. None to big fan fare or any holiday cheer. But, in the the simplest of actions, thoughts, and deeds. We all share any food we receive as if it was addressed to all. There's a small town in Ohio that's been getting my shop fat for just over a year now. We don't complain. We keep telling each other we're going to send a thank you after every treat in every box has been eaten. But, before any of us take action, another box of goodies arrives. And, the cycle repeats.

One of my kids' (kid - I say kid, he's 22 years old) mothers is flying in tomorrow. It's the first time she's come to see him and his ship. Makes me remember the first time my family came to visit the ship. And, I got to introduce them to the people that were larger than life in my life. Almost an introduction of 2 families, meeting for the first time. I was honored when this kid now asked if I was going to be on board tomorrow. And, if he could call me so I can come down, on Christmas, to meet his mother. There is honestly, no other place I would rather be.

So, to all, I wish you a happy holidays. Whether it be religious or familiar, something shared with all or a quiet peace with someone special, enjoy it.

Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.
