I suspect she can hit me more easily. It's really the only sort of advice I listen to.

Breathe J.

Trouble's right (somewhat)...  They're bound to disapprove as they don't know him as you do and they want the best for you.  The difference there is that the 'best' they see is different than the 'best' you see.  Talk to them.  Don't let this be a divisive moment that has long-lasting implications.  I hate to see people who say they haven't spoken to so-and-so for years because of ______.  Life is too short to make BIG deals out of misunderstandings.

(damn I sound like Oprah there....  [roll] )

Problem is, there's other issues with my parents, not just Mother. This is just one more added to the list with them. I don't cause them any trouble, I've never been in trouble, did well in school and all that, why can't they just be happy that I'm happy?

Didn't your grandmother meet him and like him a lot?

Yup. In fact, she's the one that gave us her old wedding set for rings.

Okay, okay....  You're a good egg.  I get it.  They likely get it too (deep down maybe).  Have gramma talk to them.  Maybe it needs to come from a different angle.  Maybe they need a reminder that perhaps they didn't 'measure up' when they got married and look how they turned out...

Better off selling it privately, and buying one privately.

Then again, I'm not as concerned about a warranty. But I wouldn't be terribly worried with a civic. Those things are dependable.

yeah, i thought about that too. she needs the old car for a trade in, plus she needs financing.
also, i'm not allowed to work on her car. she'a afraid i'll botch it. not sure where she would get that idea from though  [roll]

Sorry to hear that, Bubs.  :-\  I know we're not actually related fambly or anything, but I'm pretty sure that most of the DMF is super-stoked for you.

Celebrating 13 years of marrige today. [thumbsup]

I'm lucky to have awesome in-laws. Heck I like them better than my own blood. :P

J,

They'll come round. Likely they're realizing they are losing their little girl.

Bank financing maybe?

I'm not a fan of dealers-I would demand book value for your trade in.

I think Duck-Stew and Trouble are right, J, but I know it's tough.  My dad and I once got in a fight over something similar (actually is was a lot of things that built up to a big thing) and I told him not to call me again until he could grow up.  Probably not my best idea as he didn't call me for two years.    [roll]  I finally called him and we patched things up, but it wasn't easy.  Glad I did it though.  Just breathe and hang in there.

We're all happy for you!!!

Inara: "Yes, precisely. Only the exact phrase I used was 'don't'."

Sorry to hear, Jess.

Weird how these things work.

I've never even met/spoken to my inlaws. I think I was cc'd on an email once-that's about it.
