half day?  ;D

well we've got to make up the time. we only worked 12 hrs mon and 13 hrs yesterday.
today we are workign at least 16 hrs.
tomorrow we don't kow how long we will be working, but it shouldn't be a full day. mgmt is certain to remind us how lucky we are that we are allowed to work here and not have to work till midnight on a company holiday.

Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

nah, these are short days.

in sept the entire last 2 weeks are pretty much all 12 hrs at least.
it's not uncommon for us to leave here at 2-3am the last few days.

and since i know you'll ask, yes, we do get something for that! occasionally we are allowed to come in at 9 or leave at 4-4:30 the day after the end of that month.  [thumbsup]

and this always comes witht a reminder that they domnt' ahve to give us anything since we are salaried.
with such caring and personable responses from those in charge it's a wonder anyone actualyl leaves this dept.

Nah wasn't going to ask actually.

I would assume that a rational boss would take care of you one way or another or they would be looking for employees constantly.

...and you are still there...

why? [roll]

because i've had no bites on any of the resume's i've sent out. I could have transferred within the company had the afore mentioned manager not decided i am an awful worker and put me on an improvement plan. one of the rules of being on this plan is that i am not allowed to transfer anywhere within the company.

i also learned pretty quick to not quit one job before you have another lined up.

My experience has been different.

If I have a job I stay there complacent and still unhappy.

If I need a job you'd be surprised how soon I can find one.

Granted in your line of work opportunities are probably much more limited.

You should probably stay right where you are. I'll still listen to you pregnant dog. :-*

there are far fewer opportunities, and the ones that have been shown up are highly contested and since i don't have an in i don't get the job. i'm fairly certain i could have changed jobs already had it not been for the PIP i'm on. mainly because i had a manager in anohter area that iw as lookign at ask me if i wanted the job that just opened up.  [bang]

and thanks for listening to me nate. you're the best. even if youa re a grumpy old man who won't let us use gas to start a fire  ;D

I have to agree with Ni, finding another job is easier when you are still working because it makes you look more in demand and thus more appealing, it also gives you more room to negotiate.

Of course, the downside is it's hard to find the free time to put in to the job search, networking, interviewing, etc.
