when my grandma was in the the hospital after her heart attack, she was intubated, unconcious, etc...  The docs told us she'd probably remain that way for at least 4 more days. Within a couple hours, her eyes were open and she was trying to talk through the tube.  When they took the tube out, the first thing she said was "what the hell does a lady have to do to get some food around here? I'm hungry!"   

that's pretty much what my dad said when he woke up. even when he had the tube in mis mouth he was asking for food.

i have to laugh at something. if i don't i'll throw my sister into traffic.

at one point my dad says to me "nobody else but you."
not sure what he meant, but i think he didn't want a lot of people in the room. then my sister walked in with her kid and he didn't explain more of what he meant.
