That's true, but there are times when you are leaned over coming out of a corner when it's easier to just tap down and not have to weasel your toe under a shifter.

You do just what you want to do....

Without a doubt, there are ways to get around it, but without a doubt, there will be times where you'll be exiting a corner and want another gear.
2000 Monster 900Sie, a few changes
1992 900 SS, currently a pile of parts.  Now running
flogged successfully  NHMS  12 customized.  Twice.   T3 too.   Now retired.

I always want another gear [evil]

I never had a bike where I wasn't looking for that nonexistant 7th gear ;D

I ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs because it's easier to pivot my legs around and it keeps my toes off the ground.

Riding like that it seems like it would upset things having to unweight the left foot to move it and make the shift.

That's true regardless of shift pattern.

If you have to make the shift it's less unsettling to just tap down.

Gotcha.

The other thing I noticed about gp was when I was at the end of the straight and had to click down (up actually) two or three gears with one pull of the clutch it was much harder lifting up on the lever quickly than just tapping down two or three times quickly.

Agreed, but you make time upshifting, not downshifting.

You can get used to the downshift issue, but only if you try. ;)

Good luck car shopping MMH.

I have lost my voice.  I open my mouth and try to speak, and all that comes out is some squeaky noise.

I am supposed to teach tomorrow.  I guess not.

Coffee is ready!  Later.  I have to do a lot of this  [coffee]
