I'd like to blame the vinyl but it's only fault here is hiding the real issues.  This is a case of "window flashing or any form of flashing is for morons!  The stuff is worthless!  I've been building for 30 years and have never flashed a window.................. etc............."

I understand that.

Too many home owners are lulled into the sense of security that new siding will fix everything, or hoodwinked by unscrupulous builders.

They 'saved' 5 bucks on the flashing and a 1/2 hour of labor right there. ;)

Pretty close, except for the Typar.  Now, make it a 12 unit building with 6 2nd floor decks that have all heaved andwe're in the ballpark.
