Thoughts on the 7.3 Diesel Ford? '96 vintage with 240k on the clock.

Just getting broken in. The 7.3 is the better Ford diesel engine I believe.

Power Stroke injection system?

Remember in case of injector failure, to reach rear injectors, engine has to come out

All th intertashional diesels suffer from glow plug and glow plug timer issues.

Otherwise they are a good motor.

figured out yesterday that the KTM revs way higher than I realized
hit the limiter in 2nd in the high 60's and 3rd at 87
that gave access to some more power that my unintentional short shifting was denying me

if the Monster tires you, I'm not sure I could recommend one of these. My Monster absolutely pampers me in comparison to the KTM.

if I ever get to use 4th gear ... I'm flying and basically use it to relax the engine .. it's mostly 2nd or whenever able to go above 30mph 3rd ... it gets tiresome haulin' 368lbs of bike plus 185lbs + whatever I have on, on 80°F+hi humidity ... The bike itself doesn't make me tired, is the situation on which is riden ... plus not many KTM or DR400ZM around ... have to got the chinese way, like as for example:

http://www.megelli.com/index.shtml     <dealer here only imports 250cc, and BTW see any resemblance to our brand?>

or some other chinese brand since cheapest Jap 250=$6K ...

I'd just be concerned with how it would hold up long term.
