Ummm, checked the units? 90C is 194F... Maybe you're both right...

No, even if it's in in Celcius, He Man is still wrong for grabbing something hot out of an oven  :P

HOKAY! give me a break, i wasnt THAT dumb lol.

The inside of the oven was 450ish, the thermometer was set on F as in Failure. pointed it at the outside wall of the oven, it said 90.... i thought to myself...hmm that cant be right, so i touched it. 90 degrees is like a warm milk not the surface of the sun.  >:(

maybe im using this thing wrong. because it reads ice water as ~32, and if i throw a piece of metal into a pan of boiling water...it reads ~212

The whole English measuring system Fails. An inch was the size of some guy's toe. A foot, was well, his foot. and the stupidity continues.

Seriously? freezing at 32? well that makes sense. I mean, it's not like having a ten based system is a lot-make the beast with two backsing-easier to use or anything.

You know, the base ten system is completely arbitrary too, right? It's just what we assign things.

Besides-if your foot was the unit of measure, you'd never be without a way to measure things. Lets see the metric system do that.

Yup, but so much easier to use  :)

Hahaha, I guess so, but I'd have a hard time convincing the Royal Measuring Shit Society to use my foot as THE foot

The inside of an oven is not supposed to be the same temperature as the outside of the oven. Also, I'm not sure that even the walls of the inside of the oven reach the temp that it's marked at. But if you were to put a corningware bowl with water in the oven and set it to 100 I think your thermometer would read that correctly.

The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

Is the outside of the oven reflective?  As in stainless steel or a glossy finish?  That will skew the readings all to hell.  Put a piece of masking tape or something on the door and check that.

Keep in mind the door & walls of the oven are insulated and that most likely boogers up the reading ~

I don't think he is having a hard time understanding that the outside of the oven will be cooler than the inside. But when the thermometer is reading 90 and it's more like 190, there's a problem...

Would the thermally insulated door/glass not throw off the reading if he's trying to read something on the other side?

If it reads boiling water as 212 and ice as 32...

the rest is operator error.

it does have a lot to do with the surface you are trying to read.
