This article prompted me to check out monoprice.com --> I love it because you can get them in the colors you want. Makes wiring it up really easy: Blue cable goes to Blu-Ray. Red to Cable, Green to XBOX, etc etc etc. Makes life simple.

yeah monoprice is another good one

have they sued the red sox yet?

what is really fun is reading the letter from Blue Jean Cable (the owner is a former patent attorney) back to Monster Cable about a potential patent infringement.

wonder why they haven't gone after monster-esque words: Monstrosity. Monstrous. Monsters Ball.

I thought if your company name was such a common word, the case is very difficult to protect it. I suppose I'll learn more about the legal acrobatics needed to be done regarding that next year.

I really could not fathom a more wrong way to do business - hyper-aggressive legal maneuvering to protect the dubious claim on the "good name" of a company that owes its success to hyper-aggressive (not to mention technologically questionable) marketing for an overpriced product of marginal quality.  It pretty much covers all how-to-be-an-asshole-in-business bases.
It is also hard for me to comprehend how they got monster.com to *settle* a lawsuit for the use of the name - I'm guessing by threatening a protracted legal battle.  And now they are issuing licensing fees for use of the word "monster", like some kind of trademark squatter's rights.  Assholes.

If I had deep pockets, I would start a company called Monsterously Shitty Cables and Pointless Lawsuits LLC and wait to be served.  make the beast with two backs them very much.

An electrical engineer buddy and I did some testing years ago using frequency analyzers and such and determined that Monster Cable speaker wires were no better than 12/14ga lamp cord you can buy in bulk at hardware stores. And the lamp cord blends in better on carpet.
