Why would Ducati do away with the outside air temp display on the M1100? I can't make sense of it.

Mine isn't exactly accurate, anyway... especially after sitting still. I'd rather be rid of it and save a couple grams. [cheeky]

Just one explanation.

Is there a seperate sensor for it, or does it piggyback off of the existing sensor?

No idea. I just know that it's about as reliable as the weather report.

Thats alright, after I installed my oil cooler on my 696 it is reading about 5-10 degrees hotter from the heat coming from the cooler.  So yeah its basically useless.

Wait a minute...  Outside air temp sensor?  Um, you're riding a motorcycle, how the hell wouldn't you know if the outside air is cold or warm ~

The same folk who need GPS to go somewhere they have gone to without one for the last 20 years.

i use my air temp during cold weather riding for possible road conditions. anything below about 34 or 36 i watch out for over/underpass icing. so there is a use.

There was supposed to be a secret way to unlock that function on the new monsters, but Ducati couldn't get it past the lawyers...

Yep, I was gonna say the same, I wish I had that on my bike to know to watch for ice.  35 and 45 both feel really cold to me but there is a difference in what the road will be like.  Having heated gear on makes it even harder to tell.

I rode recently when it was about 35 degrees.  It should just say "F'ing Cold!" at that temperature.  Anything more than a few minutes of riding and you freeze.

red baron

Why on earth would you ride a moto at 35 degrees?
