RIP Anita.
That's F'd up.  >:(

I've been in situations where while stopped at a red light, drivers slam on their brakes at the last minute. SCREEEEECHH!!  Not a fun feeling. I make it a habit to leave my bike in gear with the clutch pulled and stay vigilant on my mirror, making sure I see the driver slow and come to a stop. Hopefully I'll avoid being hit by behind like Anita.

+1

Let's not let Anita's death pass without learning something from it. Watch your mirrors closely and leave it in gear at intersections! One of the better tips I picked up from the MSF course. It may save your life...

RIP   :'(

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

Kind of like the girl I rode past the other day....READING A BOOK while she was driving.   [roll]

Reading books, putting on nail polish, putting on make-up, on their cell phone from the time they get in the driver seat to the time they get out of their vehicle, speeding with children in their vehicle.......and they(insurance companies) say women are safer drivers than men.

Nah, male police officers  are just more likely to give a ticket to a male driver, but let a female driver go which gives insurance companies and driver reports the false impression that men are worse drivers as there are more tickets given to men.

plenty of bad drivers from both sides of the fence.  Let's not women bash.

Anyone who doen't pay attention is risking everyone elses' life.

I'd like to see license suspension for at least 5 years, public speaking engagements where she has to tell and re-tell of her stupidity, and the price it cost, & more (but not sure jail time would change the habit).  Maybe give her earnings to Anita's family for x number of years.  to help with the additional costs as well as loss of income.

+1, RIP Anita.
Frickin' snow!

i agree that action needs to be taken to educate people about the dangers of doing other things while driving  >:(

Wasn't trying to bash women and I agree that there are probably both equally bad male and female drivers.

I was bashing the national statistics which use insurance claims and amount of tickets issued in order to say who are better drivers.
A women painting her fingernails while driving may not be technically breaking any rules of the road and may not be ticketed compared to a man who is breaking the law while speeding, but that women is much more dangerous to others compared to that speeding male driver who is at least keeping his eyes on the road and on traffic signs/lights.

That's a bit assumptive, no? What makes you think he's paying attention at all? Idiot drivers are idiot drivers, regardless of any other circumstances.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I have seen a man lathering up and shaving with a straight razor while driving. :o

I've been rear-ended in a car 4 times by men and once by a woman.  Just luck of the draw. :-\

I was behind a woman texting on her phone today. I pointed at her car and held my hand up to my helmet like a phone to give a fair warning to the people around me. She just waved at me and kept doing it. At least she saw me? ???

priceless [laugh]

that's when I should have scrawled the mirror image of my number in the dust on her back window.

Absolutely terrifying.  I was in Chicago land, on that road, on that day, visiting friends.  I drive a lot for work as does my buddy who lives in the northwest suburbs, and he always regails me of the shitty driving situations he encounters, but you can't really relate until you're on the bike in the middle of that shit.  All my best to her family.

I love this idea!  Make people accountable!  Usually hitting where it hurts (like loss of income) will make people think twice, maybe three times when they get in their car's!!!
